South Steel Complex
South Steel Complex was established in May 2004 with a 51% investment from the Iranian side and 49% from the foreign side (a Muslim investor from India). In April 2005, the construction of the steel melting plant, with an annual billet production capacity of 300,000 tons, commenced on a 4-hectare site in the Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone, with an investment of 34 billion rials.
The skilled personnel of South Steel Complex, after 2 years and 10 months of relentless effort, completed the installation of equipment on January 12, 2008. On July 30, 2008, after securing 18 MW of electricity and 150 cubic meters of daily water supply, the plant commenced trial operations. Ultimately, on August 18, 2008, South Steel Complex was officially inaugurated by the Honorable Minister of Industries and Mines, Mr. Mehrrabian, along with a group of managers, representatives, and ambassadors from Iran and India, becoming the largest private-sector steel billet producer in the country. It also marked the first foreign investment in Iran’s steel industry and the first steel plant in Hormozgan Province.
Today, the company proudly utilizes foreign financial facilities for machinery acquisition and, by adopting new induction furnace technology for the first time in Iran, operates a plant capable of producing 300,000 tons of steel billets annually, supplying them for use in the country’s industrial cycle.
